Creative Writing

Creative writing is an expression of personal visions and the emotions it contains and its sensitivity to human experiences. Creative writing is innovation, not imitation, neither authorship nor repetition, which differs from one person to another according to his special skills, previous experiences, linguistic abilities, and creative talents, which grow with training and knowledge.

There are three types of creative writing, namely:

First: Writing a Paragraph

Second: Writing a Notion

Third: Writing an Article or Essay

Paragraph: It is a group of interconnected and sequential sentences, dealing with one main idea or one of the meanings, and the writer of the paragraph should improve the selection of the correct vocabulary and write it in proper writing, especially in terms of spelling, because the singular is the smallest unit in writing the paragraph, and after choosing the correct word the sentence should be sound and correct in terms of its grammatical structure and meaning so that through the interconnectedness of these sentences and their sequence of sentences, it forms the essence of the one idea that in turn constitutes one paragraph.

Notion: It is a very short piece of prose that accidentally occurs in the mind of its writer and becomes intense, so the notion is not a mature idea that was invented a long time ago, but rather a glimpse that does not need strong evidence and arguments to prove its sincerity, so we see it in the columns or half-columns – specifically – and its writer often puts it in a bright and striking title, such as “Word”, “Preach”, “On the Walk” or “Towards the Light”, in this type of journalistic writing the writer needs intelligence and power of observation, as the importance of the thought comes from the fact that it can draw the reader’s attention to the small things around us with significant connotations.

The essay is the most common type of creative writing, which expresses all areas of life, in which the writer begins by defining the topic of the article and prefers to narrow the research to writing on a general topic, so that the reader is able to make the most use and benefit of the article, and then touches upon writing an approximate draft that includes all ideas included in his article. Hereinafter, we shall state some of the tips to follow when writing the article, namely:

Use Reliable Sources of Information: The writer should be careful when searching for his information on the Internet, make sure to take such information from reliable sources such as well-known newspapers, field experts, government websites, or university websites, and it is necessary to rely on several sources that are not related to each other to ensure the accuracy of the information completely, and

Writing Short and Clear Paragraphs: Short paragraphs give ease of reading, in addition to pushing the reader to read the successive paragraphs contained in the article, with paying great attention to placing separating spaces between paragraphs, and to ensuring that the paragraphs are short, strong and specific at the same time.

The difference Between Creative and Functional Writing:

Functional writing aims to inform the reader about a topic in a formal way, such as academic writing such as research and references, news writing and writing website content, and a formal character characterizes functional writing, so it does not leave an emotional impact, and it does not have an attraction that pushes the reader to continue reading except as far as the benefit he is looking for. But this does not mean that it is easy writing, as it is one of the professional forms of writing that is governed by rules and principles.

As for creative writing, it is any writing that goes beyond the limits of functional writing, and its purpose is to express ideas, feelings, and emotions, as it appears from the definition of creative writing that it is a loose definition that includes a wide range of writing arts. Still, the common feature that combines these arts is attractiveness, which leaves no room for the reader to leave it easily when he begins reading.

Creative writing is divided into two main parts, namely:

Creative Fiction Writing: There are many types of creative fiction writing, such as fiction, short story, and poetry.

Creative Non-Fiction Writing: It is creative writing that mixes literary creativity with reality. It may include an introduction, followed by a climax and a conclusion, as is the case in fiction literature.

The Creative Professional Article or Essay

The creative professional article or essay takes different forms such as: the post and the article of opinion, where the general context is natural, as the conversation flows easily from one topic to another, and it is objective, but it is human and not academic, this means that it is not concerned with theorizing or abstract narration of facts only, but rather presents Those facts, which are embodied in reality by real people, in short, are written in a more “honest” way, so to speak.
